The property includes 14 hectares or approximately 33 acres. Seven hectares are cultivated with olive trees and grape vines, and 2 1/2 hectares are “bosco” or forest
The rest of the land is designated as "pascolo" and “seminativo,” originally it was used for grazing and planting grains. Olive Oil: There are 1000 olive trees, a mixture of frantoiana, morelli, and a local type called the Madonna of Impruneta. The trees are well kept. Some are over four hundred years old, and approximately 100 were planted in 1985. The average yearly production is about 2 ,000 kilograms. Wine: The orientation and slope of the land is ideal to plant new grape vines. The majority of the grape vines are currently planted between the olive trees or fruit trees, known as “promiscua” and depicted in paintings since the Middle Ages. The grape vines are a mixture of san giovese, canieolo and malvasia, the traditional combination for the production of Chianti Classico. Wine produced on this land has the possibility of receiving the DOCG “Black Rooster" and did so through the ‘80’s. In recent years it has been produced solely for family use. |
